My mates and I have temples upgraded to level 8 and still no sign of amulets, how do you know when there's an amulet waiting to be captured? Does it appear on the map screen or the temple screen?

You will randomly find it. There is no notification about if there is an amulet in your area. Read the Amulet and Temple FAQ.

yes, read the temple faq like zzz suggested.

if you find one, a notification will show up in your reports. also when you click on the temple, it will show what amulets you hold.
