View Full Version : How did I end up with this town?

A very odd occurrence: I sent troops to defend an ally in need. The town in question was attacked. Next thing I know, my troops are dead, my settler camp is gone, and I now own this smoldering town.
I can spare the troops. But I want my damn camp back! I didn't send troops to capture, and I can't see any reason the town should have ended up in my hands -- and my very pricey settler camp lost!
Did I just encounter a major, very inconvenient bug?
Please help, or offer possible explanations. (And, as I said, NO, I did not send troops to capture; I sent them to defend.)
Thanks.

There's a good chance that the ally you are trying to 'defend' could have been attacked.

Or

When you sent your troops to 'defend' the town and you sent your settler camp along with them, it automatically tried to 'conquer' the town. You can't send your settler camp to someone else's town trying to "save" it from your own town (even though you may not have done it on purpose, the program doesn't know this). A big battle may have occured and now you are left with a burned down town.

Well, okay -- but it doesn't explain why I sent troops to defend a town and I ended up capturing it, even though the troops were killed. I didn't accidentally "send along" my settler camp (how would one even do that?), and I shouldn't have been able to capture the town in one attempt with a few thousand troops, even if that had been my intention.
And it doesn't replace the time and resources I needed to make the camp in the first place. Grrrr. That's one irritating bug.

wow, I haven't seen something like that! imagine: you are general and you are going to defend town of your ally. enemies attacked it, you have all troops destroyed and your ally too, and after a battle you are controlling the city!
maybe it's a bug, but maybe this game have its secrets which we haven't expected:cool:

You might have to send this as a bug report if you didn't "accidentally" sent your settler camp. Go to the support section of the forum and send as many information about this to the devteam. Hopefully they can find the answer to this puzzling situation ^ ^.

Why don't you read what your report says and copy/paste that for us, then we could have a better picture of what happened.

(no need to include the troops part, just the text)
